Here is a bit from the book’s Preface, “Mukti is a product of love and pain of at least three decades. It is a byproduct of over three decades of field work, social work and travel in the 1947 Partition-affected Bengal –Bangladesh (formerly East Pakistan), West Bengal State of India – as well in the neighboring states…….During my travel in Muslim-majority Bangladesh I have come across the term ‘mukti’ from many, especially indigenous pre-Islamic Hindu, and lately Buddhist, families as they pray for liberation from their suffering….The book is directed towards Western readers many of whom may have heard of India, yet very little is known about post-partition Muslim-majority Bangladesh and Hindu-majority West Bengal, the effects of Indian Partition on the people of the Bengali-speaking region, the former mixed Hindu-Muslim Bengal Province of Colonial British India……Yet the privileged-caste Hindu-refugee elites quickly rose to power in two Hindu Bengali-majority states in India: West Bengal and Tripura. They would champion liberal, left and Marxist ideologies but refused to show solidarity with the oppressed, mostly belonging to Hindu oppressed castes [whom they left behind]… Seeds of Mukti was first sown in early 1990s when many of my friends and associates asked for translation of my Ai Bangla, Oi Bangla (This Bengal, That Bengal.)…..The Bengal of British India was known to be a relatively-tolerant mixed Hindu-Muslim society where both Hindu and Muslim nationalism played significant role. In a surprise twist of history after Partition of Bengal and India in 1947 both Bengals took stride towards intolerant politics, one…Islamism, the other….Leftism, led by Bangladeshi (East Pakistani) Muslims and Bangladeshi (East Pakistani) Hindu, albeit refugee. The book delves into that ethos and contradiction, although politically incorrect and, at times, impolite…..I have no power to protect individuals and families who have shared their deepest feelings to my family. I have no power to protect their villages either. As a result I have not used the real names of individuals, villages and neighborhoods….”

"Apart from his eight principal wives, Krishna is described to have married several junior women, he rescued from the demon Narakasura. The Bhagavata Purana and the Harivamsa (appendix of Mahabharata) state that 16,000 women were rescued. (Ref. Wikipedia)

Demon Narkasur had forcibly married all the kidnapped girls. When Lord Krishna killed Narkasur,they became widows. But Lord Krishna married them all with Hindu rituals and took them to Dwarika.

Lessons: Lord Krishna started widow marriage and marriage of kidnapped girls. ISKCON and other Hindu sects, should follow Lord Krishna and start marriages of  Hindu widows and that of kidnapped Hindu girls in Bangladesh. I am sure they can achieve a target of 16,000 by Krishna Janamshtmi. (Hindu and Sikh refugees from of Pakistan in 1947, performed hundreds of thousands [lakhs] of such marriages.)

You may forward it to Hindu leaders in Bangladesh and ISKCON devotees worldwide. May Lord Krishna bless you in rescuing Bangladeshi Hindu women!

Dr. Sachi Dastidar's monumental work - Mukti: Free To Be Born Again - is an intensely personal but extraordinarily researched book and one integrating an amazing range of knowledge of post-1947 India with his own family's history. It is simultaneously both informative and horrifying, documenting a tragedy ignored almost equally by the world as well as most of his fellow Indians. Mukti focusses, in particular, on Dastidar's native Bengal, a part of pre-partition India ripped apart twice, once after Britain relinquished power in the late '40's and again in 1971 when the area, then known as East Pakistan, was attacked by West Pakistani forces as the new nation of Bangladesh struggled to achieve independence. 

     It's subsequent history is an appalling saga of the ongoing effort to eradicate the Hindu population of Bangladeshi Bengal by forced removal, massacres, and continuous persecution by Islamist elements. The age-old Bengali culture one that had both Hindu and Moslem

features, is being slowly eradicated.

 

     In some ways, the worst aspect of this decades long tragedy is how most of the expatriate Hindu population, refugees from East Pakistan/Bangladesh, many of them now secularized members of Calcutta's elite, have abandoned any concern for their poorer, rural Hindu relatives left behind in the mass immigrations since 1947.

 

     Dr. Dastidar passionately defends the integrity of the traditional Bengali culture, praising it's reverence for nature and the environment, while criticizing it's negative characteristics, such as the

vestiges of the caste system and the ahistorical nature of the Hindu faith. He  laments the failure of late 19th and early 20th Century reform movements like those of Aurobindo and Gandhi to forge

 

     Dr. Dastidar's work is epically long (668 pages), requiring a dedicated perseverance to travel it's length. And, as a personal journey taken with numerous family and friends, it can be confusing at

times in terms of the frequent change of characters, with their Indian names necessitating concentrated attention. Nevertheless, the account with it's remarkable record of a decades long pilgrimage, along with much colorful detailing of places, cuisine, costumes and. customs,

and the dreadful history it so vividly documents, makes reading Mukti a compelling but disturbing experience.

Memoirs of Homeland: Refugees of 1947 Bengal Partition in India -- Book

I am pleased to inform you that our book, Memoirs of Homeland: Refugees of 1947 Bengal Partition in India, authored by Shefali and me has recently been released by Firma KLM Publishers of Kolkata. It is a 320 page soft-cover book. Attached is a copy of the front and back covers.

Here is a bit of explanation from the book, “Between 1982 and 1986, for no particular reason, we decided to interview [in the U.S.] some of the refugees – Hindu and Muslim – as many of their stories were riveting to us, and now socializing with individuals from the “other” groups from whom they fled earlier. How are they able to do so? How do they feel about their homeland? Not so surprisingly, all the refugees remembers in minute detail how and when their families fled, or what made them to choose a different nationality leaving their home of their ancestors, especially for Hindus for whom the village water and soil, flower and fish, are sacred and needed for religious services. Majority of refugees were Hindus who fled from East Pakistan/East Bengal to India…..….Altogether there are 22 stories; 16 men and 6 women; Hindu 18 and Muslim 4. This was an unscientific sample. In real life Hindu Bengali displacement is enormous compared to Muslim displacement. So number of Muslims in the sample is proportionally a bit higher; whereas the number of refugee women is certainly much lower.” (p 14)

১৯৪৭ সালে তদানীন্তন পূর্ব-পাকিস্তানে হিন্দুর সংখ্যা ছিল অন্যূন ২৯%; ১৯৭১ সালে ১৯.৬%। অর্থাৎ পাকিস্তান আমলের পঁচিশ বছরে কমেছে প্রায় ১০%। বাংলাদেশ আমলে এখন বলা হচ্ছে হিন্দুর সংখ্যা ৯%। তাহলে চার দশকে কমেছে ১০%। এভাবে অঙ্ক কষলে দেখা যাবে ২০৫০-এর দিকে বাংলাদেশ হিন্দু শূন্য হয়ে যাবে। পাকিস্তান একটি সা¤প্রদায়িক রাষ্ট্র, তদুপরি পাক-ভারত জনসংখ্যা বিনিময়, হিন্দু-মুসলিম দাঙ্গা ইত্যাদি কারণে হিন্দু কমে যাওয়াটা তেমন বেমানান ছিল না। পক্ষান্তরে বাংলাদেশে হিন্দু কমার গ্রহণযোগ্য কোনো কারণ নেই, অন্তত থাকার কথা নয়, তবু অনবরত কমছে তো কমছেই। এর কোনো ন্যায়সঙ্গত যৌক্তিক ব্যাখ্যা কারো কাছে নেই, যদিও অনেকে অনেক আবোল-তাবোল তথ্য দিতে পারেন।

The number of Hindus in East Pakistan in 1947 was at least 29%; 19.6% in 1971. The twenty-five year period, a decrease of about 10% in Pakistan. In Bangladesh era people say it is now 9%. The 10% decline is in four decades. If the math is done accordingly then by 2050 there will be no Hindu in Bangladesh. Pakistan is a communal state, as well as a population exchange between Pakistan and India, Hindu-Muslim riots, etc. due to the decline of Hindus was not so incongruous. On the contrary, there is no reason acceptable to the Hindu reduction, at least not to stay, but it is decreasing continuously going down and down. There is no legitimate reason for anyone to explain, though, a lot of senseless information is doled out.

ঢালাওভাবে অনেকে বলে থাকেন যে, কোনো মুসলমান দেশে অমুসলমানরা থাকতে পারে না। মুসলিম বিশ্বের দিকে তাকালে কথাটা তেমন অযৌক্তিক মনে হবে না। কিন্তু বাংলাদেশের জন্যও কি তা প্রযোজ্য হবে? নিউইয়র্কে জন্মভূমির সম্পাদক রতন তালুকদার প্রায়শ বলে থাকেন, ‘বাংলাদেশে যখন হিন্দু থাকবে না, তখন মুসলমানরা পাকিস্তানের মতো নিজেদের মধ্যে মারামারি করবে।’ ইরাক-সিরিয়া বা আফ্রিকার দিকে তাকালে তা সত্যই মনে হয়। এমনিতে বিশ্বব্যাপী শিয়া-সুন্নি বিরোধ আগামী দিনগুলোতে জ্যামিতিক হারে বাড়বে। আহমদিয়ারাও বাদ যাবে না। বাংলাদেশের ক্ষেত্রে হিন্দুরা হলো ‘ডিটারেন্ট ফ্যাক্টর’ এবং হিন্দু না থাকলে নিজেদের মধ্যে ফাইট অনিবার্য। কারণ মৌলবাদের ধর্মই হচ্ছে, বিভেদ সৃষ্টি করে অন্যকে নিয়ন্ত্রণে রাখা, ধর্ম এ ক্ষেত্রে একটি চমৎকার উপাদান। ধর্মভিত্তিক রাষ্ট্র এ জন্যই বিপজ্জনক।

Many say that generally in Muslim countries no non-Muslim can live there. So as we look at the Muslim world it does not seem unreasonable. But is it applies to our Bangladesh? New York’s Janmabhoomi editor Ratan Talukdar often says, “When there won’t be any Hindu in Bangladesh, then the Muslims will fight among themselves like Pakistan.” If you look at Iraq-Syria or Africa, then it seems to be true. Normally, the rate of global Shia-Sunni conflict will increase geometrically in the coming days. Ahmadi believers won’t be excluded. Hindus in Bangladesh are a “deterrent factor” and the inevitable fight between themselves will take place without a Hindu. The radical’s religion is, with instilling discord is to control others, religion is an excellent material in this case. That’s why religious state is dangerous.


আমাদের দেশের বর্তমান সরকার ধর্মনিরপেক্ষতার চ্যাম্পিয়ন বলে দাবিদার, তারা বলছেন, ২০২১ সালের মধ্যে বাংলাদেশকে একটি মধ্য আয়ের দেশে পরিণত করবেন। জঙ্গি সংগঠন জেএমবি বলছে, ২০২০ সালের মধ্যে তারা বাংলাদেশকে ইসলামি রাষ্ট্রে পরিণত করবে। কোনটি হওয়ার সম্ভাবনা বেশি অথবা দুটোই একসঙ্গে হতে পারে কিনা বা দুটোই শুধুমাত্র স্লোগান কিনা তা ভেবে দেখা দরকার। বাংলাদেশের হিন্দুরা ভাবে তারা শেষ পর্যন্ত নিজ দেশে থাকতে পারবেন না। ‘জননী-জন্মভূমি স্বর্গাদপী গরিয়সী’- অর্থাৎ মা ও মাতৃভূমি হিন্দুদের কাছে স্বর্গ-সমান হলেও চৌদ্দপুরুষের ভিটেমাটি থেকে হিন্দু প্রতিনিয়ত বিতাড়িত। পাশের দেশ ভারত। তারাও জানে, হিন্দুরা থাকতে পারবে না, চলে আসবে। এ ক্ষেত্রে বিজেপি ও কংগ্রেসের দৃষ্টিভঙ্গি একই। বর্তমান বিজেপি সরকারের তো হিন্দুদের গ্রহণ করার জন্য অবারিত দ্বার এবং এ জন্য তারা কিছু আইনও প্রণয়ন করছে।

The current government claims to be the keeper of secularism of our country, they say, by 2021 the country will become a middle-income country. Terrorist organization JMB is saying that by 2020 they will make the country an Islamic state. Which is likely to be, or whether the two would be together, or both should be considered only whether as slogans we must think now. Hindus of Bangladesh think in the end they may not be able to live in their country. “The mother and the mother homeland swargadapi gariyasi” or in other wards mother and homeland of Hindus are like heaven yet they are being constantly expelled from the ancestral heaven of tens of generation. Neighbor is India. They know, Hindus won’t be allowed to stay, they will come. In one aspect views of BJP and Congress are the same. The current BJP Government has wide opened the door for Hindus and some new laws have been formulated.

অর্থাৎ বাংলাদেশের সংখ্যাগরিষ্ঠরা চান হিন্দুরা ভারত চলে যাক, ভারতের সংখ্যাগরিষ্ঠরাও চায় বাংলাদেশের হিন্দুরা ভারতে চলে আসুক। দুদেশের সংখ্যাগরিষ্ঠদের মধ্যে কী চমৎকার মিল! যদিও দৃষ্টিভঙ্গি ভিন্ন। একপক্ষ অসহায়দের আশ্রয়হীন করতে চাচ্ছে, অন্যপক্ষ আশ্রয়হীনকে আশ্রয় দিতে চাচ্ছে। একজনের অনুদার ও অন্যজনের উদার দৃষ্টিভঙ্গির কারণে চূড়ান্তভাবে ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত হচ্ছে বাংলাদেশের হিন্দু। অনেকেই মনে করেন, ভারত চাইলেই বাংলাদেশের হিন্দুরা নিজ দেশে শান্তিতে বসবাস করতে পারে। কথাটার বাস্তবতা কতটা তা বলা মুশকিল, কিন্তু ভারত তা করবে না, যেমন করেনি অতীতে। এবার মোদির আগমনে অনেকেই চেয়েছেন হিন্দু নির্যাতনের ব্যাপারে তিনি কিছু বলুন, তিনি বলেননি, বলার কথাও না। কারণ হিন্দুরা দয়ার পাত্র। ভিক্ষুকের জন্য কেউ বন্ধুত্ব নষ্ট করে?

The majority of our country wants Hindus to go to India, India's majority wants for Hindus to come to India. What a great similarity between the two majorities of two countries! Although the outlook is different. One side wants to make the poor homeless, the other side wants to give shelter to the homeless. On one side is the oppression and the other liberal-minds yet ultimately the Hindus are suffering extremely and of their point of view. Many people feel that if India wants Bangladesh's Hindus can live in peace in their own country. But how far is that reality, it is difficult to say, but India won’t do that, as in the past. After Modi's arrival many Hindus thought he will speak up against anti-Hindu violence, but he didn’t, he was not expected to do so. Because Hindus are subjects of pity. No one wants to loose friendship for a beggar.

বাংলাদেশে শান্তিপূর্ণ সহাবস্থান দিনে দিনে নষ্ট হয়ে যাচ্ছে। যদিও ‘শান্তিপূর্ণ সহাবস্থান’ একটি দেশের উন্নয়নের পূর্বশর্ত- বর্তমান উন্নত বিশ্ব এর প্রমাণ। হিন্দুরা না থাকলে সহাবস্থান যেমন থাকবে না, শান্তিও থাকার কথা নয়। পাকিস্তানকে দেখেও আমাদের তা শেখার কথা ছিল, আমরা শিখছি কোথায়! অবশ্য কিছু মানুষ আছেন, যারা অশান্তিতে থাকতেও রাজি, কিন্তু হিন্দুর সাথে থাকতে রাজি নন। তাদের কথা ভিন্ন, রাষ্ট্রযন্ত্রটি কী চায় তার ওপর অনেক কিছু নির্ভর করে। রাষ্ট্র না চাইলে হবে না। রাষ্ট্রের দৃষ্টিভঙ্গি পাল্টানোর প্রয়োজন। রাষ্ট্র হবে ধর্ম নির্বিশেষে সবার। সমস্যা হলো, বাংলাদেশ রাষ্ট্রটি বেশির ভাগ সময় পরিচালিত হয়েছে পাকিস্তানি ধ্যান-ধারণায়। তাই এটি সব মানুষের ছিল না, ছিল একটি ক্ষুদ্র জনগোষ্ঠীর। হিন্দুরা সেখানে অবহেলিত থেকেছেন। এবং এখনো তারা উপেক্ষিত।

The peaceful co-existence are being lost every day. While the 'peaceful coexistence' of a country's development is a precondition, the developed world's proof of that. If you do not have the coexistence with Hindus, for example, country is not going to have peace. Be looking at Pakistan we were supposed to learn, are we learning! Of course there are people who wants to live with misery, but does not want to stay with the Hindus. They're different, much depends on what State wants to do. If the State will not do it won’t happen. The state needs to change its view. The State must be regardless of religion. The problem is, most of the state of Bangladesh was run in the style of Pakistan. So the State was not of the people, it belonged to a small community. Hindus there has been neglected. And yet they are ignored.

তাহলে কি এ সমস্যার সমাধান নেই? আপাতদৃষ্টিতে নেই। ভারতই হিন্দুর চূড়ান্ত গন্তব্য। তা কবি শামসুর রাহমান যতই ‘সুধাংশু যাবে না’ কবিতা লিখুন না কেন! সুধাংশুদের যাওয়া ছাড়া রাস্তা নেই, সুধাংশু তোমায় যেতেই হবে, আজ না হয় কাল। যদি না আমীর হোসেনের মতো উদারমনা মানুষ সা¤প্রদায়িকতা রুখতে নিজের জীবন বিসর্জন দেন। কিন্তু আমীর হোসেনরা তো হারিয়ে গেছেন! এই সেই দেশ যেখানে ৬৪-৬৫র দাঙ্গার সময় আমীর হোসেন হিন্দুদের রক্ষায় র‌্যাংকিন স্ট্রিটে নিজের জীবন বিসর্জন দিয়েছিলেন। এই সেই বাংলা যেখানে একদা কবি গাইতেন, ‘আগে কি সুন্দর দিন কাটাইতাম’। সেই দেশ, সেই দিন আর আসলেই নেই। কারণ রাষ্ট্র আমাদের মানুষ বানায়নি, বানিয়েছে হিন্দু বা মুসলমান। শুধুই কি নিরাশার কথা শুনালাম? না, আরো একটি সমাধান অবশ্য আছে! সেটা হলো, হিন্দুদের ঘুম থেকে গা-ঝাড়া দিয়ে জেগে ওঠা। কারো দয়ার পাত্র না হওয়া।

Is there no solution to the problem? Apparently not. India is the ultimate destination for Hindus. As much as the poet Shamshur Rahman writes “Sudhanshu won’t go” poetry! Sudhangshus must leave, Sudhanshu will go today or tomorrow. Amir Hossain minded people sacrificed their lives to prevent communalism. But Amir Hossains are lost! This is the country where during riots of 64-65 Amir Hossain sacrificed his life to protect Hindus at Rankin Street. This is where the Bengali poet once sang, “What a beautiful day we would to spend.” The country, and the day is not there really. Because the State hasn’t made us humans, it made us Hindu or Muslim. Did I just talk about despair? Not, of course, there is a solution! That is, the Hindus to wake up from sleep with a body shake. They should not depend only on pity.

Very well written!  Arguments are convincing. The element that also needs to be factored into this argument matrix is the progress of science and technology resulting in info explosion, globalization and gradual consolidation of the modern mind - irrespective of race and religion. 

To quote Rabindranath (Sorry I do not possess Bangla script software); 

"....Sei dhangser mahabege//Ekdin seshe bipul birja santi uthibe jege..."

"Ki ghatana ghatabe durdaibe//Jirna juges abashane ki jaba ki raibe"

গত ২১সে জুন নিউজ ওয়ার্ল্ড বিডি ডটকমে” ভারতের  পরাজয়ে বাংলাদেশী হিন্দুদের মন খারাপ   এই শিরোনামে  নিউইয়র্ক থেকে  একটি প্রতিবেদন  ছাপা হয় । প্রতিবেদনটি লেখেন  দর্পণ কবির নামে জউনক  সাংবাদিক । ব্যাক্তিগত ভাবে  তাকে আমি চিনি না । মাজে মধ্যে প্রবাসের বাংলা প্রত্রিকায় তার নাম দেখতাম একজন সাংবাদিক হিসেবে ।  উপরিউক্ত  শিরোনামের  আড়ালে  যেকেউ  প্রথম থেকে শেষ পর্যন্ত প্রতিবেদনটি পড়িলে মনে হবে  তার লালিত এত দিনের সানপ্রদায়িক বিদ্বেষ মন খোলা ভাবে ডেলেদিয়েছেন । তার প্রতিবেদনটিতে  বিষয়ের  উপর নিজ অজ্ঞতা, মূর্খতা , হীনমন্যতা প্রবলভাবে ফুটেউথেছে।    তার  সাং বাদিকতা আজ প্রশ্নের মুখামুখি দাঁড়িয়েছে । মুলত ধর্মীয় সংখ্যা লঘুদের ওপর  হিন্দু ,বৌদ্ধ ও খ্রিষ্টান পরিষদ নেতা  শীতাংশু গুহের দুইটি লেখাকে কেন্দ্র করেই  দর্পণ কবিরের প্রতিবেদন  ছাপা হয় । দর্পণ কবির কিন্তু গুহের  দুটি লেখার একটি লাইন বা শব্দ মিথ্যা বা চ্যালেঞ্জ করতে পারেনি । বরং নিজের         প্রতিবেদনে   প্রবাসী হিন্দুরা  রেমিটে ন্স বাংলাদেশে না পাঠিয়ে ভারতে পাঠানো, দুর্বলের উপর সবলের নির্যাতন , পরিষদ একটি জঙ্গি সংগঠন  ও সর্বপরি, সমগ্র হিন্দু সনপ্রদায়ের দেশপ্রেম নিয়ে      কটাক্ষ ও প্রশ্ন তুলে মহাপাপ করেছেন । তার এ সমস্ত   অবাচনিক ও সানপ্রদায়িক বিদ্বেষ মূলক  বক্তব্যে জবাব দিতে আমার রুচিতে বাধে । তবু সুধী জনের অণূরোধ ও আমাদের সমাজে অসংক্ষ দর্পণ কবিরের  অস্থি ত্ব থাকায় তাদের অবগতির জন্য জবাব দেওয়ার প্রয়োজন মণে করছি । দর্পণ কবীর শিরোনামে বলেছেন , ক্রিকেট খেলায়  ভারতের পরাজয়ে নিউইয়র্কের  হিন্দুদের নাকি মণ খারাপ হয়েছে । মণে হয়েছে খেলা হারার সাথে সাথে  সিটির পাঁচ বোরোতে বসবাসরত দশ হাজারের  অধিক  বাংলাদেশী হিন্দুর  মনোজগতের খবর  নিয়ে  তাৎক্ষণিক  সার্টিফিকেট দিয়ে দিয়েছেন । কী সান প্র দায়িক অদভূত চিন্তা । অথচ একটু সচেতন হলে  খবর নিতে পারতেন কুইন্স , ব্রুকলিন ও ব্রনক্স এ অসংখ্য পরিবারে  হোলি খেলার মত আনন্দ ফুর্তি করেছে , বাসায় বিশেষ খাবারের আয়োজন করেছে । আমার কর্ম স্থলের হিন্দু কলীকরা ও দেখিছি জ্যাকসন হাইসটে গিয়ে আনন্দ ফুর্তি , মিষ্টি মুখ করেছে ।  করবে না কেন ? বিশ্ব চ্যানপিয়ন    একটি দলকে হারিয়ে দামাল ছেলেরা  বিশ্ব গৌরব অর্জন করেছে । এতে সকল ধর্ম বর্ণের মানুষেরা খুশী হয়েছে । ভারত তো বাংলাদেশের হিন্দুদের দেশ নয় । তারা কেন মনখারাপ করতে  ্যাবে? তাছাড়া আপনাদের মত ভেদ বুদ্ধি র   মানুষেরা  মনে করে  ভারতই বাংলাদেশের হিন্দুদের দেশ, বাংলাদেশ নয় । আপনাদের ভুলে গেলে  চলবে না , এই সিটিতে শুধু বাংলাদেশের হিন্দু মুসলমান নাগরিকই নন , পশ্চিম বঙ্গের বাঙালী হিন্দু মুসলমানও রয়েছেন  ।  সেই ক্ষেত্রে   তাদের দেশের খেলোয়াড়দের পরাজয়ে  মন  খারাপ হবে এটাই স্বাভাবিক ।। পাকিস্তান ,বাংলাদেশের  খেলায়  যখন পাকিস্তান হেরে গেল কিংবা বাংলা ওয়াশ করল  তখন সমস্ত গ্যালারি আনন্দে ফেটে পড়লেও  একাংশ কিন্তু নীরব  থেকে যায় । একটু পিছনে ফিরে দেখা যাক  সদ্য স্বাধীন বাংলাদেশ শহীদের রক্ত তখনো  শুকায় নি  ঢাকার মাটীতে ভারত- পাকিস্তান  হকি খেলায় পাকিস্তানের কাছে ভারত হেরে ্যায় ।  আর তখনই বাঁধ ভাঙা স্রোতের মত পাবলিক মাঠে নেমে পাকিস্তানী খেলোয়াড়দের  চুমো খেতে ও মাথায় নিয়ে নাচার   দৃশ্য দেশবাসী ও বিশ্ববাসী দেখেছে । কাজেই আপনদের  মত মানুষেরা  সান প্র দায়িক চশমা দিয়ে  এগোলো দেখা যাবে  না এটাই স্বাভাবীক ।

এবার আসা যাক আরেক প্রশ্ন , আপনি বলেছেন  নিউ ইয়র্কে  বসবাসকারী কিছু পাসপোর্ট ধারী  বাংলাদেশি হলেও  তাদের সব বিনিয়োগ ভারতে  মাণে  পশ্চিমবঙ্গে।  বাংলাদেশে তাদের  পূর্ব- পুরুষরা ও জমি ক্রয় বা  সনপদ বা সনপতি  করতেন না । তারাও করেন না । এখানে আমি  কবীর সাহেবকে অণুরোধ করবো , তিনি যেন ২১ জুন ২০১৫ এর সংখ্যার বাংলা টাইমস এর সাপ্তাহিক পত্রিকাটি পড়েন । শিরোনামেই দেখতে পাবেন মালয়েশিয়ার সেকেন্ড হোম  প্রকল্পে  বাংলাদেশীদের বিনিয়োগ  সরবো চ্চ । গত বছর মালয়েশিয়ান সরকারের ওয়েবসাইটে  প্রকাশিত তথ্যে জানা যায় , বিদেশীদের জন্য এঈ প্রকল্পে  বাংলাদেশ দ্বিতীয় সরবোচ্চ বিনিয়োগকারী দেশ । এ প্রসঙ্গে  ড মইনুল  হোসেন  জানান কেন্দ্রীয় ব্যাংকের অনুমোদন ব্যাতিত  নিশিচতভাবে ওই সব টাকা পাচার করা হয়েছে ।  কানাডায় বিপুলসংখক বাংলাদেশী বসবাস করেন এমনএকটি এলাকার নাম হয়েছে বেগম পাড়া । বিশেষ দুর্নীতিবাজ রাজনউতিক নেতারা ওখানে টাকা পাচার করে  সনপদ গড়ে তুলেছেন । হংকং এ অনেক বাংলাদেশী ব্যাবসায়ির  অফিস রয়েছে । সেখানে তারা পূঁজি পাচার করে নিয়মিত ব্যবসা করছেন । এমন কি প্রতিবেশি ভারতে  খোঁজ নিলে জানতে পারবেন বাংলাদেশী  মুসলিম  ব্যবসায়ী , রাজনিতিবিদ ও আমলাদের ব্যাংক একাউনট , ব্যাবসা, অনেকের প্লট ও রয়েছে । এ বিষয় গুলো আপনাদের সানপ্রদায়িক চোখে ধরা  পড়ে না । অথচ বিভিন্ন সময়ে  মাতৃভূমি ছেড়ে যাওয়া ভগ্ন পরিবা্রের কেউ অথবা পশ্চিম বঙের কো ন    বাঙ্গালী  সেই দেশে অবস্থান রত পিতা মাতা বা আত্মীয় স্বজনের কাছে  টাকা পাঠাইতে পারে এটাই  স্বা বাবিক ।?আপনি  বলেছেন  নির্যাতিত হলেও কেন  ধর্মীয় সংখ্যা লঘূরা দেশ ছারবেন? আমরা যারা জন্ম্য সুত্রে মুসলমান , তারা কি নানাভাবে দেশে সমাজে নিপীড়িত – নির্যাতিত হচ্ছি না?  দুর্বলের উপর সবলের নিষ্পেষণ  প্বথিবির কোথায় না হছে না? সব সময় ,কালে কালে এ ঘটনা ঘটেছে । তিনি আরও বলেছেন ইহুদীরা চরমভাবে নির্যাতিত হয়ে যুক্তরাষ্ট্রে পারি জমালে ও তাদের দেশপ্রেম ফুরিয়ে যায়নি। অনেক পরে হলেও তারা ইসরাইল নামক রাষ্ট্রের প্রতিষ্ঠা করেছে । এমন উদাহরণ একটিও নেই যে, দেশান্তরী হওয়া কোন হিন্দু পরিবা র পশ্চিম বাংলা থেকে  নিজ দেশের ভূমিতে ফিরে এসেছে। কারন দেশপ্রেমের অভাব । দর্পণ কবিরের অজ্ঞতা, মূর্খতা এ খানে দারুন ভাবে প্রকাশ পেয়েছে । উনি সাধারণ নির্যাতনের সাথে ধর্মীয়সংখ্যালঘূদের উপর   সানপ্রদায়িক নির্যাতনকে  গুলিয়ে  ফেলেছেন । পাকিস্তান বা বাংলাদেশে হিন্দু তথা ধর্মীয় সংখ্যালঘুদের উপর যে নির্যাতন অতীতে হয়েছে বা এখনো হচ্ছে সেটা সানপ্রদায়িক নির্যাতন । সানপ্রদায়িক দাংগায় দুদল বা সনপ্রদায়ের মধ্যে সামনা সামনি মারামারি  হয় । যে সনপ্রদায় দুর্বল সে  স নপ্রদায় বা   দল প্রতিপক্ষয়ের হাতে মার খায় । আর বাংলাদেশে  ধর্মীয় সংখ্যালঘুদের উপর যা ঘটে  তা সানপ্রদায়িক নির্যাতন , সানপ্রদায়িক নির্যাতনে  প্রতিবাদের ভাষা থাকে না যা একতরফা হয় । আর যখন বিশেষ ধর্মীয় স নপ্রদায় বা জাতি গোষ্ঠীকে  পরিকল্পিতভাবে ভিটে মাটি ,বা দেশ ছাড়তে , ধর্মান্তরিত হতে বাধ্য করা হয় , তখন তাকে এথনিকক্লিনসিং বলা হয়ে থাকে । যা পাকিস্তান আমল থেকে   বর্তমান  বাংলাদেশে ও  এ নির্যাতন  এখনো চলছে ।      কাশ্মীরের  হজরত বাল মসজিদে  রসুলের  কেশ  চুরির অজুহাতে  ১৯৬৩ ও ১৯৬৪ সালে  মুসলিম লীগের  উস্কানি ও ষড়যন্ত্রে ঢাকা ও খুলনাসহ সারা দেশে ভয়াবহ দাঙ্গায় হাজার হাজার মানুষের নিধন ও  লক্ষ্য লক্ষ্য মানুষ দেশ ত্যাগ করে । একই ধর্মীয় মৌলবাদী গোষ্ঠী ও পাক হানাদার বাহিনির টার্গেটে  মুক্তিযুদ্দ কালীন মুক্তিযুদ্দা , আওয়ামী লিগ, ছাত্র লীগের পাশাপাশি হিন্দু স ন প্রদায় ও   গণহত্যার শিকার হয় । বাড়িঘরে আগুন, হত্যা, লুণ্ঠন  ও ধর্ষণের  দ্বারা তদেরকে দেশ ছাড়া করা হয় । তারপর ৯০ ও ৯২ সালে বাবরি মসজিদ  ভাঙার আজুহাতে এ দেশে হিন্দুদের হাজার হাজার মন্দির ,দোকানপাটে আগুন ভাঙচুর ,লুণ্ঠন, হত্যা  ও ধর্ষণের  ঘটনা ঘটেছে । সময়ের ব্যবধানে  সান প্রদায়িক চরিত্রের ও রুপ পালটিয়েছে  । ৭৫র পরবর্তী সরকার গুলির সময়ে জাতীয়  নির্বাচন আসলেই ভোট ব্যাংক অজুহাতে  রাজনীতির আড়ালে  হিন্দুদের উপর সান প্রদায়িক নির্যাতন হয়েছে ।  ২০০১ সালে জোট   সরকারের পুরোও আমলে  ভোট ব্যাংক রাজ নীতির আড়ালে  হিন্দু সন প্রদায়ের উপর  যে সহিংস নির্যাতন হয় , হাইকোর্টের নির্দেশে  ঘটিত তদন্ত কমিটির  রিপোর্টই তার প্রমাণ । ওই  রিপোর্টে জোট সরকারের একাদিক সাংসদ সহ ২৬ হাজার বিনপি- জামায়াতের নেতা কর্মী সহিংস ঘটনায় জড়িত থাকার প্রমান রয়েছে ।গত আওয়ামী শাসনামলেও সান প্রদায়িক গোষ্ঠী পরিকল্পিতভাবে চত্রগ্রামের রামুর বৌদ্দ পল্লিতে ভয়াবহ হামলা, চিরির বন্দর ,সাতক্ষীরা সহ গত ৫ই জানুয়ারির নির্বাচনে অধিকাংশ স্থানে হিন্দু সন প্রদায়ের উপর হামলা হয় । কাজেই এইগুলিও এথনিক ক্লিন সিং এর অন্তর্ভুক্ত ।  অপর এথনিক ক্লিন সিং এর হাতিয়ার শ্ত্রু সনপপ্ত্বি  আইন । যে আইনটি পাকিস্তান সরকার ১৯৬৫ সালে  হিন্দু সন প্রদায়ের  সনপপ্ত্বি ও তাদেরকে দেশ থেকে বিতাড়িত করার জন্য প্রণয়ন  করেছিল  সেই পাকিস্তানে ১৯৬৯সালে  থেকে আইনটি অকার্যকর  হয়ে গেলেও  বাংলাদেশে  গত ৫৫ বছরে এই আইনের শিকারে ৬ মিলিয়ন হিন্দু সর্বসান্ত হয়ে দেশ ত্যাগ করতে বাধ্য হয়েছে।  ১৯৪৭ সালে ভারতবর্ষ ভাগের পর পাকিস্তানে ধর্মীয় সংখ্যালঘূদের অবস্থান ছিল প্রায় শতকরা ২৯জন , ১৯৭২ সালে ছিল প্রায় শতকরা ১৭ জন, ১৯৯১সালের আদম শুমারিতে দাড়ায় ১০.৫ জন । দর্পণ কবির সাহেব ইহুদীদের সাথে হিন্দুদের দেশ প্রেমের তুলনা করে চরম মূর্খতার পরিচয় দিয়েছেন । জানি না  দর্পণ কবির সাহেবর  লেখাপড়ার জোর কত ?  তার ইতিহাস জ্ঞানের বহর দেখে ধারনা করা যেতে পারে , উনি  যে মুক্তিযুদ্দ দেখেনি বা উই সময় ছোট ছিলেন । কবির সাহেবের উদ্দেশ্যে বলতে চাই,  ১৯৪৮ সালে  বৃহৎ শক্তিবর্গ তথা আমিরিকা, ব্রিটেন , ফ্রান্স ও রাশিয়া কৃপা করে মধ্যপ্রাচ্যের  বৃহতর প্যালেস্টাইন ভূখণ্ডকে ভেঙে  ইসরাইল বা ইহুদী রাষ্ট্রের  পত্তন করা হয় । আর বাঙ্গালী হিন্দু, মুসলমান , বৌদ্দ , খ্রিষ্টান জাতীয়তাবাদী শক্তি ১৯৭১ সালে নয় মাস পাক হানাদার বাহিনীর  সাথে যুদ্দ করে দেশ স্বাধীন করে । এক্ষেত্রে ভারত আমাদের বন্ধু হিসেবে  অর্থ , অস্র , ট্রেনিং ও এক কো টি মানুষকে আশ্রয়  ও খাদ্য দিয়ে  সাহায্য করেছে । কৃপা নয় । সেই এক কোটি মানুসের  অধিকাংশই ছিল হিন্দু  সনপ্রদায়ের  লোক । দেশ  স্বাধীন হওয়ার  পর  নূতন স্বপ্ন নিয়ে মাতৃভূমিতে ফিরে  আসে ।  দেশ প্রেমের ঘাটতি থাকলে  তারা দেশে ফিরত না । কবির সাহেবের অবগতির জন্য জানাচ্ছি ,জ্রন্মভুমির সঙ্গে হিন্দুদের অবিচ্ছেদ্য  সনপক্র যা ধর্মীয় বিধানের  অন্তর্গত । হিন্দুরা মনে করেন ” জননী জন্মভুমিশ্চ স্বগাঁ দিপি  গরীয়সী ।“ তারা বিশ্বাস করেন  প্রতিদিন পউত্রিক ভিটায় সন্ধ্যাপ্রদীপ জ্বালাতে হয় । ভিটার সঙ্গে তাদের যে নাড়ির টান অন্য ধর্মে তেমনটি নেই । এসব কারনে একান্ত বাধ্য না হলে কেউ বাপ দাদার শেষ চিহ্ন টুকু বিক্রি করে ভিন দেশে গিয়ে বাঁচার স্বপ্ন দেখে না । ৪৭ সালের পর যে হিন্দুরা দেশত্যাগ করতে বাধ্য হয়েছেন তাদের অনেকের পরিবারের একাংশ বা আত্নিয় স্বজন দেশে থেকে গেছেন । এমন কি দেশে যাদের কেউ নেই তারা ও মানসিকভাবে জন্মভুমির সঙ্গে নাড়ির বন্ধন ছিন্ন করতে পারেননি । যার ফলে বিদেশে তারা আর্থ –সামাজিক এমন কি রাজনউতিকভাবে যত প্রতিষ্ঠিতই হোক না কেন ফেলে আসা মাতৃভূমি , পিতৃ পুরুষের ভিটার স্ম্রতি সারাক্ষণ তাদের তাড়িয়ে বেড়ায় । ৭১- এ মুক্তিযুদ্দের সময় ধর্মীয় বিশ্বাস নির্বিশেষে বাংলাদেশের এক কোটি মানুষ ভারতের পশ্চিম বঙ্গ , ত্রিপুরা, আসাম প্রভৃতি রাজ্যে আশ্রয় গ্রহণ করেছিলেন এবং এই রাজ্যের বাঙালিরা তাদের একান্ত আপনজনের মতো বুকে আশ্রয় দিয়েছেন । বাংলাদেশের অচেনা মানুষদের তারা মনে করেছেন ফেলে আসা স্বজন , বন্ধু, প্রতিবেশী । ষাট পয় সট্রি বছর অতিক্রান্ত হওয়ার পর মাতৃভূমির মায়া তারা কাটাতে পারেননি । যারা বাংলাদেশ স্বাধীন হওয়ার পরও স্বপ্নভঙ্গের কারনে দেশ ত্যাগ করেছেন তাদের বেদনা আরও গভীর । বাংলাদেশ স্বাধীন করবার জন্য ধর্ম জাতিসত্তা নির্বিশেষে  ৩০ লক্ষ্য মানুষ জীবন দান করেছিলেন একটি প্রকৃত ধর্মনিরপেক্ষ রাষ্ট্র প্রতিষ্ঠার স্বপ্নকে বাস্তবে রুপ দেওয়ার জন্য । ৭৫ এ বঙ্গবন্ধুর নৃশংস হত্যাকাণ্ড এবং সামরিক শাসকদের দ্বারা ধর্মনিরপেক্ষ সংবিধানের  বলাৎকার এবং রাষ্ট্র ধর্ম ইসলাম কায়েমের পর মুসলিম –অমুসলিম বেউষম্য , বঞ্চনা ও নিপীড়ন –নির্যাতন যখন প্রকট হয়ে উঠতে থাকে, যখন থেকে সংখ্যালঘুর দেশপ্রেম প্রতিমুহূর্তে প্রশ্নবিদ্দ হতে থাকে, তখন থেকে শুরু হয় দ্বিতীয় পর্যায়ের অভিপ্রয়াণ, যা এখনও অব্যাহত রয়েছে ।
