This year Partition Center (ISPaD) with Probini Foundation that merged with Partition Center was held at Hungerford Street in Central Kolkata (Calcutta) in Sunday, August 28, 2022 starting at 11 AM. The event was chaired by Prof. Dr. Sujata Ghosh Dastidar, head of Kolkata Girls’ Orphanage that began with few girl victims of 1947 Partition of Bengal and Partition of India. Dr. Dastidar has been a professor of an eminent university of Kolkata producing over 60 doctorates. The non-profit centers receiving ISPaD-Probini donation were Kolkata’s Girls’ Orphanage, Durgapur’s Swami Vivekananda Vani Prachar Samiti supporting schools for the poor, Bankura’s Purbachal Ananda Foundation supporting schools for the poor and the orphaned, and now home for the homeless and more, and OAR building school for the dirt-poor in the Sundarbans area of West Bengal. One recipient of Partition Center’s donation, Ahimsa School of Mizoram’s Ultimate Truth Preaching Mission was unable to attend because of huge cost and time for travel to Kolkata. Projects at Nandigram of Medinipur District, Kharagpur, and Assam were absent.

Each of the organizations were given donated funds to continue their great work. Bankura and OAR (Our Association of Remedy) were given extra funds as they are planning to buy land for building an orphanage and a school respectively. Some of the attendees included Dr. Shefali Sengupta Dastidar, founder of Partition Center of New York, Mrs. Pratima Roy Chowdhury of Kolkata, Mr. Arindam Banerjee of Bankura, Mr. Jayanta Mondal and Mr. Ghosh of Durgapur, Mrs. Mala Banerjee of Kolkata Orphanage, Mr. Bikash Biswas and Pallab of OAR, and this writer. The event ended with a self-funded delicious lunch.

Special thanks to Prabal & Swapna Mukherji, Anil & Chhaya Gupta, Rev. Arlene Wilhelm, Mr. Dilip Chakravorti and Dastidar family for generous donation to our schools.
