A Typical Scenario

Kauai is a small island with great beauty and lots of visitors. It has about 65,000 inhabitants, with daily visitors many times more.

To break from the Corona virus lockdown, and to fulfill the wishes of granddaughter Shriya Lakshmi, we headed to the Island State of Hawaii in the middle of the Pacific Ocean during her 2022 Spring Break.

Getting from the East Coast of the U.S. to Hawaii was almost as much time consuming as going to the distant India, Subcontinent, or Southern Africa. And getting to Kauai took even longer, but was worth it.

This small island is known for her beaches, harbors, trails, bike paths, hilly areas, mountains, and places to relax.

One of the special attraction of the small island is the Hindu Monastery, Kudavul Temple, Rudraksha (a type of nut) Forest and lot more. The temple was established by Kauai native Satguru Sivaya Subramuniyaswami, almost five decades ago. The small island has museums, meeting and socializing places. It also has beaches where large turtles come to rest overnight. Taking pictures at night with light is not allowed to protect the turtles’ habitat. Islanders seems to be extremely tolerant people. At every corner of the island there are hundreds of wild chickens who are not being bothered by locals. An airport worker told us that after a storm several decades ago a chicken farm got damaged when chickens from the farm got loose, and since then wild chickens have grown everywhere.

Here are sample pictures from the Island of Kauai.
